The kit contains most of the uncommon items required to prepare your placenta, but you will still
need to provide some standard kitchen supplies in order to complete the encapsulation.
The instructions refer to the use of a food dehydrator. This is the best way to dry the placenta, since it ensures that temperatures are set to the lowest possible level for maximum nutrient retention.
However, if you do not have access to a
food dehydrator and do not wish to purchase one, you may use a conventional oven. This alternative
drying method is described in the enclosed instructions.
You will need a large bowl, a large pot with a cover, a steaming basket, a large sharp knife, and something to grind the dried placenta into powder. Grinding can be done with a mortar and pestle, a blender or an inexpensive coffee grinder.
There are two stages to the encapsulation process. Stage One, preparing the placenta for drying, will take about two hours from preparation through cleanup. Stage One should begin within the first 24-48 hours of the birth for best results. The placenta will lose potency every day once it is born. If you cannot start the process within the first 24 hours, you may freeze the placenta until you are able to begin Stage One.
Stage Two is the grinding and encapsulation portion after the placenta is completely dry. It usually takes about an hour with an inexpensive coffee grinder. If you're planning to use a mortar and pestle, you will need to add additional time for that.
By purchasing an encapsulation kit, you agree that:
1. This encapsulation kit entitles you to a single-use license for the enclosed instructions. You may prepare a single placenta for yourself, a friend or a loved one. If you intend to use the instructions to encapsulate placentas for any other number of women, you must contact Jodi Selander privately and inquire about training options to provide encapsulation services.
2. You will not hold Jodi Selander or Placenta Benefits Ltd. liable for any results you may experience, either during the encapsulation process or while taking the capsules.
3. The resulting capsules are for use by the mother who birthed the placenta; giving the capsules to anyone else is strongly discouraged.
